Exciting times in the online video market. New rivals are challenging YouTube’s role as top dog. Vine, Twitch and YouNow offer features and presentation formats that aren’t yet well supported by YouTube. Facebook is solving the discovery problem. Snapchat enables short-lived videos, Vessel entices users with premium services, and Twitter has a direct link to the TV. All of these platforms need content, stories, and stars, setting the market again into motion. If YouTube appeared unassailable just a year ago, the platform today is losing appeal and power.
