Original Programming - TV made in Europe


Driven by the entry of new platforms and the growing demand for serial entertainment, the European series market is fast gaining momentum. If German and European broadcasters were previously to a large extent dependent on licenced American productions, original productions are now back in programmers’ strategic focus. A number of European networks are beginning work on co-productions, and even Germany’s public broadcaster is working for the first time with pay-TV service Sky to develop an ambitious series project. How significant are European productions within the quickly shifting global market?
