The Culture of Debate Online. Can Loudmouths Be Stopped with Analytics?
LOCATION: MEDIA CUBE
The culture of online debate is often biased by loudmouths who succeed in attracting considerable attention despite representing only a minority of the population. This is facilitated by the current design of news sites and Web forums. Accompanied by discussion, this session will focus on technical opportunities to mute the impact of such attention hogs using automatic analytical tools. Recognising such figures with the help of textual analysis is difficult, but not entirely impossible.
