Against the Reign of the Algorithms! How Do We Regain Control?

Our thought has been hacked. Between search engines, social media, and big-data nudging, algorithms have taken control of our daily lives. Self-reinforcing mechanisms allow us to sink into the one-sidedness of our own interests, abandoning ourselves willingly to the dictatorship of data. We have to talk. How did we become “Like” machines, producing a media-saturated monotony? And much more important: How can we recover control of the discourse – and protect freedom and democracy?
